It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.
